New Craft Show

Hello One and All.

As the new year approaches, like us, many handmade crafters/vendors are lining up their schedules for the coming year.  I happen to know of two, under my own company Act One Scene One that I would for anyone to apply and be the amazing Handmade Vendors that I know you are.  And if you are not, then you can pass along the good word.

There are a few sites to visit to get information.  One being my own company website which is ACT ONE SCENE ONE . You will find up to date information on the Events tab.  You can also go to our Make It Original! Facebook page and our Act One Scene One Facebook page.  Make sure to “Like” both.  We love keeping people in the loop.  Please request a vendor package as soon as possible since spots are going Quick Quick!!

As for Magic Needles, I will be at both of those events which will be taking place in April.  I think I have stated before, but worth repeating, that I will also have a booth on February 1, 2014 in Renfrew and on Frebruary 8, 2014 at the Russell Winter Carnival.

With all of the new slouchy’s that are done, and a bunch of Preppy Pup Collars, this should should be a hit.

You can also be sure that my sidekick (a.k.a. husband) will be there with Make Her Happy. He has ventured into making necklaces recently, and hopefully will soon have the bracelets as well.  Keeping our fingers crossed.

Happy Crafting Everyone!!  and the most Prosperous New Year!!

Make It Original!

So maybe not everyone is aware that aside from my love of all things handmade and crafty and lets not forget vintage, I also launched a new business.  On the heels of a very successful wedding planning endeavor, I am using all of my abilities and my experience and combining it with all that I love.  I am now a Wedding Coordinator and Event Planner, a.k.a. Life Saver as I like to be known.  This has already been a great adventure and it’s just beginning.

DSC_1777 DSC_1773You can “like” my page www.actonesceneone.ca . I encourage everyone to spread the word that there is a New Lady in town and she is passionate about everything she does!  Pretty sure anyone who follows me knows that very well.

I am also asking for support on one (and soon to be two) events that are already in the works.  I am also putting a call out to anyone in the area who is interested in being a vendor!  Please visit www.facebook.com/makeitoriginalcraftshow . |Even if you are not a crafter, or even a vendor, I’d appreciate spreading the word and “like”ing the page!  Thanks everyone for their ongoing support.

make it originalSo while keeping in the theme of Make It Original!  I have been hard at work making new hats.  These slouchy’s are Da Bomb!!  I love them and wear mine all the time.  I’m not a hat wearer, but I have to admit, this one is fun.  Of course I’ve added my own little spin, so with the leftover shirts that I make dresses, pants and of course The Preppy Pup Collar, I now also use the leftover to make flowers to put on the hats.  Hope you enjoy them.

As the year 2013 comes to an end, I say goodbye with a wee bit of sadness.  It’s the year that I married my best friend.  That’s kinda hard to beat.  But I am more than anxious for 2014, new endeavor, and so many new, amazing and talented people to meet!

Merry Christmas to All and the most prosperous of New Years.

Mrs. D.

Preppy Pup Collar

Just wanted to post an update since I now have models for the Preppy Pup Collars and they are sooooo adorable.  I can’t even contain myself.  They will be making their official appearance at our upcoming early 2014 events.  For now we are solidly booked for the Russell Winter Carnival Fair on February 8th, 2014, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  We may also be doing a show in Renfrew on February 1, 2014, but I will come back for more info on that one.

So here are a few pictures.  They are so dashing regardless of the sex of the dog!!  They do not bother the dog in anyway, they certainly don’t seem to mind them at all and rather walk with their head held high…LOL  Very aristocratic.  LOL

Can’t wait to see all our followers.  2013 has been great for us, and with an expanding selection of upcycles articles and the ongoing demand for our little hats, and the launch of our Wedding Coordinator /Event Planner Business, and of course being a newlywed, this year is something to remember.  So I’m sure that 2014 can only get better.

Ciao for now, and happy crafting.

So Fun!! The Preppy Pup Collar

As a follow up to my last post, I’ve done a bunch of the Preppy Pup Collar (yes, that’s what I decided to name them).  Unsure yet which craft show they will make their first appearance at, but as soon as we schedule one, they will be front and centre.  I’m posting just a few pictures, but like everything else, they are one of a kind!  I don’t make anything twice (other than the knitted hats  🙂 )

There a doggy in the window!

Well hello dear followers and newbies.  I am happy to say that we have had quite a successful months, and met some truly amazing people along the way which is something I look forward to every time we do a show.  We are looking to possibly doing a few more in December, but for now, we will enjoy a much deserve mini vaca.  With that said, it certainly doesn’t mean that we have stopped being creative.

This past weekend we did introduce a few new products and they were an instant hit!  I am hard at work this morning, doing so many more.  Though I still love making my little hats (and I continue to do those) and I am also spreading my time in the sewing room.

So here are a few pictures of the newer items and as I get a moment, and more pictures, I’ll be adding them to my list of pages with individual pictures.

2013-11-19 21.07.52I am now working with men’s recycles shirts.  Upcycled as I like to call them.  The collars are now the most fashionable doggy accessory every doggy should have and my lovely Bizou is showing hers off.  I’ll be blinging them out of course, but this was my first run and she LOVES IT!!  She wears it daily without complaint.

Part two are the sleeves of the men’s shirts which we are lovingly calling Goojiki Pants (polish for dress shirt)  They are truly adorable.  They were well received this past weekend, and I am loving the fact that I know some little one will be wearing my creation.  Part tree..the matching and yet very individual Goojiki Dress sold immediately.  It did not last long on the rack.  Thankful that I got a picture of it before it went to a wonderful home.

2013-11-18 15.34.34So that is that for now.

Though I did take a pictures of our new setup, I can’t seem to figure out EXACTLY where I stored it (one of my many problems with technology today, there are to many hiding spots….LOL) but when I figure it out, I’ll post it.

2013-11-18 15.35.33You can also now follow me on twitter with another adventure of mine which is Wedding Coordinating/Event Planning and Life Saving.  The company name is Act One Scene One and you can follow me on twitter @Act1Scene1  There is also a facebook page www.facebook.com/actonescenoneottawa and of course the main website at www.actonesceneone.ca

Happy Crafting

Annnnnnd were back!!

Hello everyone.

We are back from our little vacation (ok, so I got married..LOL), but we are not heading out for a honeymoon just yet, and so we are happy to put ourselves out there for the holiday season with our treats and treasures and terrific gifts.

This is a quick overview of where we are going to be over the next couple of weeks.  Magic Needles and Make Her Happy will be attending several craft shows.  So here they are.

OVCC Artisans @Archives (Ottawa) – November 23, 2013

The Savoir Faire (Aylmer) – November 24, 2013

I’ve placed a link for everyone of them, just click and it will take you to all the details.

Come on out and see us.  Make her happy has a wide variety of spoon/fork rings of all sizes.  They are unique and one of a kind.  There are new spoon necklaces that will make amazing gifts.  We have our little Poduczka Dresses.  (They may be sun dresses but can be work all year long).  Vintage Rosie headbands.  They look awesome and certainly give off the Rosie Riveter look.  Unique and one of kind.  All dresses and headbands are upcycled pillow cases.

Come on out, we will be busy every weekend, but we look forward to socializing at the shows.

As a side note, there will also be a display where you can get information on my new company Act One Scene One, Wedding Coordinator/Event Planner and Life Saver.  We are now booking for 2014 Events.  For the New couple wanting the full coordinator package, you get a FREE website for the duration of your planning process and for one month after the wedding.  Great place to share with family and friends your journey to wedded bliss.

Let’s get Crafty!!  🙂

Taking a little Vacation

ImageHello Eveyone.  Big thanks to Finders Keepers in Carleton Place.  We had an amazing show there, original idea and it was great fun.

Many Thanks for your support.

Where to Next

Carp Fair

Carp Fair

Well I must admit it was a fantastic weekend at the Carp Fair.  I was somewhat leery about having an outside booth….at the end of September (I don’t do well with cold weather…LOL)……and the obvious unknown and how our product would be received among booths that have mostly imported merchandise.

I am happy to say that we were welcomed with open arms and did very well.  We received exceptional positive feedback and excitement at our originality.

We were totally blessed with OUTSTANDING weather.  We had our cute little tent, and other than the dust that accumulates over the day, we really didn’t have anything to complain about.  We will certainly be back next year.  Very organized Fair.  It’s a major Fair, with alot of people going through the gates.  They have fantastic volunteers.  Lets not go to the food vendors………OMG, stuffed pretzels and Willy Dilly’s (a deep fried pickle that is stuffed with cheese and wrapped in a wonton……..)  There are just no words…..and YUP I totally indulged….LOL

finders keepersNow I go onwards and upwards…….onto the next event which will be my last for this month.  Make Her Happy (a.k.a. the hubby) will be out again after our wedding.  We will be in Russell in mid November, and Downtown Ottawa at the Archives at the end of November.  I’ll post later on as to those events.

Right now, please read the great story featured about my next event which will be this coming Sunday on October 6, 2013 at the Canoe Club in Carleton Place.  Looking forward to it originality

finderskeepers

and uniqueness in the crafting world.  It’s going to be alot of Fun.  I definitely have “my vintage on”…..LOL and ready to go!!  Luggage and All!!  Come on
out and see me.  I will be bringing some of the Make Her Happy Rings with me along with my little dresses, new Vintage Rosie headba

nds and some of what remains this season of my little hats and knitted headbands.  See you there!!  🙂

Show Reminders

Hello there.  I’ve been busy at work, one continuing to organize my own wedding, but of course, building my stock pile for the upcoming show.  I have two scheduled prior to the wedding, and as I’ve stated, I’ll be taking a month vacation from my creations to focus solely on the finishing touches of the wedding.  I’m happy to say that I’ve used what I have as a creative mind to make much of the decor for the wedding other than linens.  I’m quite proud of this achievement.  Look for an announcement in line with that new passion soon.  One thing at a time.

150th-Vector-200x178So this is just a reminder that I will be at the Carp Fair starting at 9:00 a.m. to coming Friday until Sunday, September 27 – 29th.  Come on out and see my new dresses and definitely the debut of the {Vintage Rosie} headbands.  I’m positive they will be a hit, and always bragging rights for having “the one and only”.  Yeah!!

finderskeepersOn October 6, 2013 I will be at Finders Keepers Craft Show in Carleton Place.

OVCC

On November 23rd, 2013 I will be at OVCC Artisans @ Archives  in downtown Ottawa.

More dates will surely come up, but there is what I have so far.

Happy crafting everyone.

Enjoy seeing my work

Frog HatThere are moment when you get that chance to see that person wearing your work and truly loving every moment of it.  This was one of those moments, and I was so thrilled to be able to be part of it, and to take this amazing pictures, or a super gorgeous young lady who just truly loves her new Froggy Hat.  Just puts a smile on my face!!  It’s a one of kind, and she now has bragging rights!!  I love it!!
